David Chidsey is a guitarist/educator with a broad vision of musical concepts, ideas, and teaching philosophies. What I offer in my lesson programming goes beyond learning about music. I'm your coach, guide, support and confidant. My goal is to help you overcome any obstacle you encounter while acquiring the lifelong gift of music.
After earning a BM from a conservatory music program at Lawrence University in Appleton WI where he studied classical guitar performance with Kevin Gallagher, David earned an MM from the UW-Madison where he taught guitar as an assistant to Javier Calderon. After studying and receiving graduate degrees in music education from Columbia University, David began a 15 year career as a public school music teacher and guitar director. He served as a guitarist in section one of the New Jersey Guitar Orchestra and section two of the New York City Guitar Orchestra. David is excited to begin teaching and performing in the San Diego area!
