Piano/Keyboard
For my whole life, I’ve had a deep passion for music and always loved sharing it with others. I’ve explored genres like classical, rock, and soul, but my focus over the last few years has shifted towards Jazz. Learning an instrument can be incredibly rewarding, and the best way to learn is to play music you like. That’s why my approach to teaching is personalized; I try to find what sparks my students’ interests and guide them in that direction, whichever genre or style that may be.
I’m currently a student at UCSD, and part of their Jazz Ensemble led by Grammy award-winning producer and arranger Kamau Kenyatta. Before college, I was part of the Berkeley High Jazz Program, and performed numerous times including at Yoshi’s in Oakland. I was a member of the California Jazz Conservatory, where I refined my skills and learned how to play with other people. I first started playing piano at around 5 years old, starting with classical but then progressing to other genres like ragtime until finding Jazz. My biggest influences are The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, and many Jazz Artists like Ahmad Jamal.
