Viola, Violin
My family consists of engineers, Clarinetists, opera singers, guitarists, dive bomber pilots, and me! I knew from the age of 5 that the violin (and later, viola) was my instrument. My dad is a guitarist and I grew up listening to and playing all kinds of music ranging from the Beatles to Schostakovich. Music builds connections between the left and right brain in ways of critical thinking, creativity, confidence, and discipline. As a teacher, I look for ways to create strengths in these areas. I feel fortunate that as a mother of three, I was able to tour with orchestras, play in LA studio recordings, TV shows, soundtracks, commercials, and many classical music concerts. I have been a teaching artist/coach with the San Diego Youth Symphony, taken my students to Italy on concert tours where they performed at the Pantheon in Rome, and studied with great people: Roberto Diaz, (Curtis Institute President) Mick Wetzel (Violist of the LA Phil) and Peter Marsh (renowned first violinist of the Lenox Quartet) I have a wealth of knowledge across many areas that I will draw upon to give your child a positive musical learning experience.
