Jim’s Jam is a group led by La Jolla Music teacher Jim Owen. Consisting of mostly amateur musicians, we welcome almost all instruments. We meet at the store every other Sunday morning from 9:00 - 10:00 am. For those of the group who are interested, we also perform once a month for local retirement communities in order to give back to the community. We do require a minimal level of proficiency in reading notes &/or chords, so if you are interested in joining our group, it is suggested that you contact Jim at wntrmn@cox.net so he can determine if you are qualified to join, or if not, what you need to learn to be able to join.

Taught by Jim Owen

Mr. Owen started his music career by being the first guitarist ever to win the Redlands Bowl Young Artists' Audition. His subsequent tour with the Lola Montes Spanish Dance Troupe was cut short by a stint in the U.S. Army Special Forces. After completing graduate studies at UCSD, he taught guitar classes at SD City College, was a music consultant for the San Diego Unified School District, continues to teach music classes every summer for the popular Gateways School, & has been teaching many different instruments at La Jolla Music since 1977.
