Julia Rahm
Piano, Voice, music Theory, Performance Technique
Julia’s biggest motivation for teaching is to help students uncover their own unique musical voice and heartfelt expression! She believes that music has the power to transform lives and is committed to working with each student not just on technique, but also on cultivating confidence, trust and authenticity in one’s own singing or playing. Julia loves seeing her students’ lightbulb moments—when something new suddenly “clicks!” She has a special gift for intuitive teaching, helping students work with their own inner world as challenges arise during the learning process, tailoring her style to their unique needs.
A native of Oregon, she graduated from Sarah Lawrence College with a B.A. in Liberal Arts and studied at the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris in Paris, France. She received her Master of Music in Voice Performance at Roosevelt University in Chicago.
With a background in musical theatre, jazz, opera, classical, folk and indie, as well as various world music genres (Celtic and Sufi in particular), she loves to dive into a variety of styles. Currently she is performing in local San Diego band moondaddy.
