Katie prioritizes creating a space where every student feels welcome and supported. Learning new skills can often feel daunting, and she believes that helping students find fun in the learning process is crucial to making the most progress. Often teachers will say to “just practice for 10 minutes every day”. But what do you do if practicing is boring? You don’t practice! That’s why Katie helps students find materials that resonate with them. Through this approach, students will reach their goals and develop a healthy foundational technique that can be applied to any style.

Katie discovered her love of music when she began playing the saxophone and oboe, but she later she realized her true passion is singing. She began her singing journey in musical theater, where she discovered an affinity for opera, though she still loves a variety of musical genres. She has performed in several musicals, including Something Rotten, Mamma Mia, The Adams Family, and most recently as Carlotta in The Phantom of the Opera (Ovation Theatre). She has performed in choirs and opera choruses, including the chorus of La Traviata (Pacific Lyric).
