Since learning the clarinet at 12, Stefanie has been a band geek, playing in high school marching and concert bands, tenor sax in jazz band, and conducting the college Pep Band. She received her Bachelor’s in Music Performance at UCSD. She performs a variety of genres, including Brazilian music, jazz, funk, and musical theater. Stefanie is the bandleader of her own Brazilian choro ensemble, Choro Sotaque, which recently recorded a debut CD. Her love of Brazilian music and drumming has taken her on numerous trips to Brazil to study and perform. Stefanie was seen most recently on stage playing clarinet, saxophones, and percussion for Lamb’s Players Theatre’s West Side Story. Stefanie’s breadth of experience allows her to teach a range of styles to students of all levels. She shares her passion for music while teaching with patience and positive reinforcement. She enjoys working with students in creative ways to find what inspires them. In addition to private lessons, she offers group workshops, opportunities to perform in a jazz ensemble with other students, and Brazilian rhythm summer camps.
